Would you describe this album as a classic Moby album?
Yes. The idea for the album was my neighborhood in New York, which has so many bars and so many clubs. I go out quite a lot. I wanted to try to recreate musically what it is like to go out in Lower Manhattan. I wanted to take the eight hours of a night out and condense it in 65 minutes. I was not worrying too much about trying to sound avant-garde or experimental. I just wanted to make a dance record that I enjoy listening to. Musically, New York is a very eclectic place, so I wanted that eclecticism to enter the record as well.

New York. Blaise Hofmann is a constant traveler. The 29-year old Swiss author from Lausanne, Switzerland has written two books about his travels: Billet aller simple (”One-way ticket”, published in 2004) takes place in Europe, Africa and the Middle East, where he spent numerous months on the road between 2001 and 2003. Estive (published in 2007) is a different kind of travel taking place in the heart of Switzerland. During the Summer of 2005, Blaise Hofmann was a shepherd in the Swiss Alps and Estive is the story of this experience.

How long did it take to produce your album?
It took about three years to complete, which probably sounds like a long time. But it did not feel like a long time. I never went to the record company to tell them I wanted to make an album. Or they never asked me to make a Spanish album. It wasn’t that type of deal. It was just that we started making music. 2 1/2 years later, we realized we had this beautiful album.
